ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER

Objective

This role will be dedicated to supporting a Mining Project. The role will consist of implement, maintain and improve the Environmental Monitoring Plan, Waste Management Plan and Water Management Plan. The role will also support the Biodiversity Specialist role. The role will be supported by three Environmental Field Technicians.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Implement the water, dust, noise and gas monitoring programme.
  • Maintain the equipment in good working order
  • Review the programme at least annually and participate in the improvement of the plan
  • Interpret and submit reports to the Teams
  • Participate in Safety Programme in the Department.
  • Understanding ad-hoc and emergency sampling during incidents
  • Waste Management
  • Incident Management
  • Reporting to the GoG
  • Interaction with Local communities

Profile

  • This job require 3-5 years’ experience
  • Local Languages
  • Technical competences and demonstrated knowledge in Environmental Science

  • Sensitivity to work in the field, rural areas, social situations.

  • Analytical skills (abilities), teamwork skills, strong oral communication skills, ability to adapt messages to people of different literacy levels, problem-solving

  • Skills: identify and solve problems in a timely manner.

  • Ability to work alone and in teams.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

  • GIS knowledge is helpful
