Job Purpose

To execute and provide technical assistance on maintenance activities (preventative and corrective if necessary) on a wide range of electrical and instrumentation equipment across the port in accordance with OEM requirements and the procedures, providing safe and effective equipment maintenance services, in order to the plant efficiency reducing plant breakdowns and minimizing production downtime.

Key Accountabilities

Policies, Processes & Procedures

Follows all functional policies, processes, procedures, systems and controls as well as the required safety regulations and job safe practices, in order to protect personnel, equipment and the plant as a whole, whilst fulfilling all relevant procedural/legislative requirements and delivering a quality, cost- effective and consistent service.

Day-to-Day Operations

Execute the planned preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and ensuring that work processes are implemented as designed and in accordance with OEM requirements.

Maintenance and Repair Work

Provide technical assistance in complex maintenance tasks and repairs on plant, equipment and structures, updating the status of work activities and reporting any abnormalities as required.

  • Perform Engineering inspections on the equipment’s and maintenance activities in order to guarantee that it is being implemented as designed and in accordance with OEM requirements.

  • Supports in investigating equipment failures and difficult-to-diagnose faulty operations and make recommendations in a timely manner.

  • Checks and update as necessary the preventative maintenance strategies and plans.

Safety, Quality & Environment

  • Complies with relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls in order to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environmental attitude.

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering. Preferably a post-graduate degree in Maintenance or Production Engineering.

Minimum Experience:

8 years of post-trade electrical maintenance experience, preferably Port/Rail maintenance or heavy industry

Skills:

  • Good understanding of electrical equipment and instruments used within the industry.

  • Strong understanding of the various electrical components within the industry.

  • Good troubleshooting ability and problem solving skills (including electrical system troubleshooting)

  • Strong knowledge of all maintenance tools and equipment related to electrical installation, servicing

    and repairing

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and reports.

  • Lean manufacturing, system approach and continuous improvement skill.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong risk management skills.

  • Strong project management skills.
