Project Manager – Mining Operations (Mali et Guinee)

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall management, coordination, execution, and performance of mining subcontracting operations on site, ensuring activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contractual obligations, client expectations, company procedures, and applicable regulations. The role oversees all operational, maintenance, HSE, financial, and personnel aspects related to:

• Ore haulage and transport

• Drilling operations

• Blasting activities

• Excavation and earthworks

• Dewatering/exhaure operations

• Heavy equipment utilization and maintenance

The Project Manager is accountable for operational performance, equipment availability, cost control, client satisfaction, and workforce management.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Management

• Lead and supervise all mining subcontracting activities on site.

• Ensure operational targets and production KPIs are achieved.

• Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly operational planning.

• Optimize fleet utilization and productivity.

• Monitor operational performance indicators.

• Ensure compliance with client production schedules.

• Implement corrective actions to address operational constraints and delays.

B. Fleet & Equipment Management

• Ensure optimal availability and reliability of mining equipment.

• Coordinate closely with maintenance teams to reduce downtime.

Monitor:

• Equipment utilization

• Mechanical availability

• Fuel consumption

• Maintenance costs

• MTBF / MTTR

• Ensure proper use and care of company assets and equipment.

  
  
  

C. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

Promote and maintain a strong safety culture (“Zero Harm” approach).

Ensure full compliance with:

• Company HSE standards

• Client HSE procedures

• Applicable mining regulations

• Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation.

• Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.

• Ensure environmental risks are properly managed.

D. Financial & Cost Control Management

• Prepare and manage operational budgets.

• Control operational expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Monitor:

• Fuel costs

• Maintenance expenses

• Labor costs

• Contractor costs

• Consumables and spare parts

E. Human Resources & Leadership

• Lead multidisciplinary operational teams.

• Ensure proper workforce planning and staffing.

Conduct:

• Performance evaluations

• Coaching and mentoring

• Training needs identification

• Disciplinary management where required

• Promote employee engagement and team performance.

• Ensure project profitability targets are achieved.

  
  
  

F. Client & Contract Management

• Act as the primary operational interface with the client on site.

• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and service level agreements

• (SLAs).

• Attend client coordination meetings.

• Prepare operational and management reports.

• Manage client expectations and operational communications.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in:

• Mining Engineering

• Mechanical Engineering

• Industrial Engineering

• Project Management

• Or related field

Experience

• Minimum 10–15 years’ experience in mining operations or mining

• subcontracting.

• Minimum 5 years in a senior management role.

Proven experience in:

• Haulage operations

• Drill & blast operations

• Excavation

• Dewatering

• Heavy mining fleet management
