Role Purpose:
directly attached to Chief Executive Officer, the CFO is responsible for developing and ensuring the implementation of a financial strategy to plan and direct the effective management of the finance function for The company, by providing strategic direction, policies and guidelines, to facilitate the achievement of strategic business objectives and to maximize stakeholder value. The main objective of this position is ensuring the organization’s financial performance, statutory compliance and long-term financial health.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties:
Participate to the overall strategy set up to determine the financial strategy and functional procedures & policies
- Contributes as a member of the Executive Management Committee to the formulation of an overall strategy for The company and supports the strategic policy setting decisions as an executive officer in the overall financial strategy and management for the long-term capital needs for The company.
- Develops and ensures the delivery of KPIs in line with the company’s KPIs dashboard.
- Develops the functional strategy and ensures that it is cascaded down throughout the Finance function to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration of all functional strategies across the company.
- Directs and oversees the design, development and management of the finance governance framework, ensuring alignment of all departments to promote The company’s vision, mission and strategic objectives.
Budget
- Leads the consolidation of the company’s budgets and business plans and monitors financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.
Financial Planning and Strategic Advice
- Provides advice and guidance to the CEO, the Executive Management Team, and the Board of Directors concerning the long-term capital structuring of the business so that The company has funds available to support the achievement of strategic objectives.
- Directs the preparation, collation and consolidation of financial and non-financial corporate metrics into a 5-year business plan, for which the business can publish and track its performance against as well as compare to industry benchmarks.
Treasury, Risk and Insurance
- Directs the accurate cash flow projections and efficient cash management for The company to ensure optimum return of investments.
- Provides cash management services to optimize cash flows, minimize the transaction costs and execute dividend policies as prescribed by the shareholders.
- Manages financial risk by overseeing enterprise wide risk management, including the development and monitoring of risks through designated corporate wide risk owners, and the offsetting of risk through the placement of insurance and hedging instruments by the Group.
- Supports fund raising activities by guiding investors on potential returns and ensuring financing covenants and compliance requirements are adhered to.
Accounting
- Leads and directs timely reconciliation of bank accounts in accord to defined regulations including OHADA and IFRS, and standards to ensure accurate verification of details whilst effectively communicating with banks to resolve any discrepancies.
- Develops the annual accounts including coordinating with internal and external auditors.
- Develops and oversees the execution of the tax strategy of the group.
IT Management
- Directs and oversees the development and implementation of IT strategies and policies in order to ensure effective objectives achievement of business and maintenance of state-of-the-art technology.
Leadership
- Leads the effective achievement of Finance functional objectives through the leadership of the Finance function – setting individual objectives, managing performance, recruiting qualified staff, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal – in order to maximize subordinate and departmental performance.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economy or equivalent
- Preferably MBA or equivalent post-graduate qualification from an internationally recognized business school
- 12-15 years of relevant experience in finance management in a large manufacturing or investment organization including at least 8 years in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities
- Experience in managing relationships with local and international financial institutions
- Advanced financial analysis skills
- In-depth and expert knowledge of statutory and internal financial management standards
- In-depth knowledge of accounting theory, financial control theory and philosophy
- Thorough understanding of cash management theory and techniques
- Sound understanding of IT systems opportunities and limitations
