Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and asthe leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governmentsand migrants.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Working under the direct supervision of the Regional Project Manager based in Conakry, and under the overall supervision of the Head of Programmes, the incumbent will play a pivotal role in supporting the execution of the project in Guinea: "Promoting Intra-Regional Labour Migration for Local Development in West African Countries.", funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and executed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Building on the insights gained from prior projects, namely, 'Bridging together Youth, Diaspora and Local Authorities for an integrated approach to promote employment and address irregular migration in The Gambia, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau' (YDLA), and 'Supporting Local Economic Development in The Gambia, Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau' (SLED), funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the third phase of the project is poised for a strategic undertaking: the territorialization of migration and development.
This phase places particular emphasis on the rural and border regions of Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau, and Guinea, which are already grappling with significant challenges. Building upon and complementing the activities supported by other national projects aimed at promoting youth employment and addressing irregular migration in the communities of origin, this phase is designed to be more effective in achieving its objectives. Specifically, it aims to maximize youth employment and intra-regional mobility as crucial drivers of local development in the region.
1. Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities.
2. Support the Project Manager in liaising and working closely with government officers for coordination of project activities.
3. Compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics, highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration of appropriate parties.

4. Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
5. Draft status reports; identify shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest corrective measures.
6. Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and other forms of documentation.
7. Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions; prepare training materials and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops.
8. Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
9. Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
10. Monitor work of implementing partners and report any non-compliance to the supervisor.
11. Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and concept papers and provide general support for the development of new projects.
12. Provides guidance/training and assist in coordinating and monitoring work of other staff in the unit; may supervise other staff as assigned.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education

• Bachelor’s degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four (04) years of relevant professional experience.
• School diploma with six (06) years of relevant experience.
Experience
• Experience and/or knowledge of project management, labour laws, labour migration, diaspora engagement policies;
• Experience with International Organizations is a considerable advantage; migration governance is a distinct advantage;
• Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
• Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
• Knowledge of migration, labour and trade institutions and processes is a distinct advantage.
Skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Excellent organizational and time management skills;
• Capacity building and training facilitation skills ;
• Computer literate including use of Microsoft Office, Sharepoints;

Languages


• For this position, fluency in English and French is required (oral and written).
• Working knowledge of National languages is an advantage.
