SECTION 2
Organizational Context and Scope
Under the direct supervision of the National Finances Officer and the general supervision of the Resources Management Officer, the Finance Assistant will be supporting the implementation, monitoring, and control of the office's administrative and financial activities in full compliance with IOM rules and procedures and donor requirements. More specifically, he/she will have the following responsibilities

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Control accounting documents.
- Verify that all supporting documents and signatures are obtained before payments are finalized,
- Check invoices and monitor that the equipment, supplies or services to which they refer have been duly received or provided before proceeding with the payment request.
- Register payment of migrant assistance fees and other financial transactions via the orange Money platform.Verify quality and complete documentation prior to any payment via OM, generate thepayment report and justify advances on time.
- Enter accounting transactions in PRISM software for assigned roles.
- Prepare project financial reports in accordance with reporting deadlines and IOM procedures.
- Carry out monthly accounting closing operations and prepare accounting submissions to be sent to RAS (Regional Accounting Support).
- Provide technical advice and answer questions related to financial procedures.
- Any other tasks and responsibilities that may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Finances, or related fields with two years proven relevant professional experience in the above fields, or,
- High School diploma with at least four years of relevant professional experience.
EXPERIENCE
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook; previous experience in SAP is a distinct advantage.
- Experience in international organizations or United Nations agencies.
- Personal commitment, flexible working hours and the ability to work efficiently and harmoniously under pressure in a multicultural environment
SKILLS
- In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; and,
- Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations.
- Excellent computer skills, especially in Word & Excel; Strong interpersonal & intercultural skills;
- Attention to detail, ability to organize paperwork in a methodical way;
- Discreet, details and clients-oriented, patient and willingness to learn new things;

REQUIRED
For this position, fluency in English and French (oral and written) is required..
DESIRABLE
Working knowledge of another international language is an advantage
