ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT:

This post is based in the WFP Guinea Country Office (GNCO) and incumbent reports to the Senior Programme Associate Nutrition. Job holders typically provide administrative support to team(s) and/or support a specific business stream, and report to the relevant Associate. At this level, work is carried out under close supervision or immediately available assistance.

JOB PURPOSE: To deliver standard business support processes for a specific professional area of work, to facilitate effective service delivery.

STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Completion of secondary school education.

Experience: Four or more years of progressively responsible work experience in the relative business stream with experience in general administrative work.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proficient in the use of office equipment and computer software packages, such as Microsoft Word.
  • Knowledge of work routines and methods in order to complete processes under minimal supervision.
  • Uses tact and courtesy to give and receive information to a wide range of individuals.
  • Ability to identify data discrepancies and rectify problems requiring attention.
  • Ability to offer guidance or basic on-the-job training to more junior staff.

Language: Fluency in French (both oral and written) is a must; knowledge of a second UN language, preferably English would be an asset.

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):

  • Develop an action plan of weekly activities and share with the Senior Programme Associate (Sr. PA).
  • Assist the Senior Programme Associate in the monitoring process of the implementation of the ongoing chronic malnutrition prevention project (1000 days project) activities in collaboration with the Labé sub-office and the Conakry monitoring and evaluation team.
  • Conduct a field visit to gain insight into the strategy of the 1000 Days Project in Guinea.
  • Contribute in the elaboration of concept notes (CN) for the activities of prevention of chronic malnutrition and other forms, in collaboration with the Country Office’s partnership unit. Collect and analyse documents related to the nutrition aspect in Guinea and in Africa (especially documents in English) and by sharing key information for the elaboration of CN project Nutrition and Health.
  • Propose nutrition sensitive interventions and communication activities for social and behavioural change in favour of nutrition.
  • Perform any other tasks required by the hierarchy.

  • Ability to produce high-quality written materials, including graphically based PowerPoint presentations as well as text documents for diverse audiences

  • Willing to work in and travel to different field locations and challenging operating environments
