JOB PURPOSE:

Facilitate the work of senior staff to effectively position WFP with public, private and external partners to attract policy support, resources, technical assistance and innovative solutions to advance the work of WFP, while supporting member states in the achievement of the SDGs and Zero Hunger and emphasizing WFP’s contributions in this regard.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the reporting and project implementation of the portfolio of the China and Guinea WFP partnership. Responsibilities include following up project implementations, soliciting coordination and communications, delivering quarterly reports, ensuring donor visibility, etc.
  • Proactively contribute to other existing partnerships portfolios, including partner profiling and outreach activities, with the aim to maximize resources and leverage policy and technical support for WFP’s work; Support partner visibility and ensure partner conditions are met.
  • Proactively contribute to exploring new business opportunities and scoping new donors, especially with private sector donors, guided by programmatic assessment and context-specific analysis with the aim to enhance the impact of WFP’s operations and diversify the resource base.
  • Contribute to partnerships strategies, including the development of partnerships action plans; Draw up quality partner proposals and reports to seek new funding opportunities by engaging with other WFP entities and external stakeholders.
  • Support senior managers in the preparation of briefing notes, talking points, strategic agreements, joint strategies, and MOUs in order to promote the SDGs and Zero Hunger on the national, regional and global agenda and to reach advantageous outcomes for WFP.
  • Gather and present internal and external data/information, using key information systems (e.g. Salesforce, WINGS, WFPGo), to support WFP’s effective positioning vis-à-vis national governments, regional and international institutions with the aim to influence the policy agenda.
  • Perform other duties as required.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE FOR ENTRY INTRO THE ROLE:

  • Has experience or demonstrated interest in international humanitarian development.
  • Has experience in working on Partnerships. Experience in building partnerships with the Chinese government or Chinese private entities will be an asset.
  • Has developed effective relationships with partners, explored new areas to scale-up existing activities, and researched new opportunities.
  • Has developed strong narratives by using data analysis visualization to enable action-oriented discussions with partners.
  • Has prepared briefs to raise resources for operations and collaborated for timely registration, maintenance and update of contributions and forecasts.
  • Has provided advanced technical support and identified opportunities for service delivery excellence to strengthen partnerships.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including substantive analysis and report writing skills.
  • Has motivated team spirit and contributed to a gender-balanced, inclusive and sound working environment.
  • Has familiarity of United Nations system and working environment.

Language:

Excellent written and spoken English & Chinese is required (proficiency/level C), working professional level of French is desired.

TRAINING COMPONENTS

Throughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry leading learning platform, weLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP (14% DSA, up to the maximum amount of US$1000) per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
  • Candidates who bear any of the following relations to WFP staff members are not eligible to apply : sons, daughters, brothers or sisters.
